The motor is strong...but also sturdy for the string. Every single few seconds of operation, the string will break off on the spool inside the trimmer head where it can't be bump-fed.
Each and every TIME this occurs, the trimmer must be stopped, turned over, the spool cover pulled off, the reel taken out, the line reinserted into a holder on the spool and threaded via a hole in the cover, the spool and cover replaced, and the trimmer restarted. I almost never got the chance to bump feed the line since it was breaking so typically, and spent a great deal more time rethreading the reel than trimming the lawn.
I rewound the reel with stronger line from yet another vendor in case the line that came with the unit was merely poor excellent or old, but it nevertheless happened just about as typically.
If this occurred once just about every job that might be ok, but this was downright aggravating.
I like this string trimmer. It is powerful, and I have had no trouble with the string breaking. I mowed my entire yard with it (a medium-sized yard with lots of landscaping), with high weeds, and it performed like a champ. The string did break a couple of occasions when the tall weeds wrapped about the trimmer, but the trimmer head is really simple and easy to take off and replace.
I have a lot of natural stone borders in my front yard, and to my surprise the string did not break at all when mowing about the stones. 1 of the critiques mentioned the string breaking a lot and this scared me, but I ordered this model anyway since I was familiar with Weed Eater goods and had never purchased a single I was dissatisfied with. So glad I did. This one's a winner.
