The trimmer is cheap, and as they say, you get what you spend for.
I read a couple reviews in which they were complaining about not being in a position to begin the unit or it would not run for extended on any engine this points to a fuel situation. In the case of the Homelite one or two string models, the intake fuel line is a jury rig nightmare that requirements to be replaced promptly and really should have been done appropriately at the factory: Remove the pieced together mess the factory installed and replace with one particular fuel line you can pick up from any lawn mower repair shop, run the fuel line by means of the hole in the tank, attach the filter and then pull the line away from the tank till you have sufficient to attach to the engine intake tube.
