Disappointed - But Appreciate What It Does August 31, 2010

It's known as a brush cutter and a brush cutter is what I required. In spite of this, the blade that comes with it is for "GRASS ONLY". There is a further blade shown in the instruction manual, but attempt to acquire what it is for and where to obtain! Finally located that the further blade was discontinued by the manufacturer. I really necessary to cut smaller, woody brush and the "grass" blade will not do that. On the other hand, it does cut tall grass and weeds wonderfully properly. A pleasure to use, uncomplicated to start off and maintain, motor is quiet, ordinarily begins on first pull. Unless I uncover some other kind of blades, it will by no means

I bought 1 to clear brush along woodland trails. So far my experiences have all been good. Set up was straightforward. The harness is comfy, and the more than-all weight is low. Be positive to check the oil each and every day that you use it. I initially tried a heavy 9-inch chisel-tooth blade, but following two miles, most of the chisel teeth had snapped off. (Might have hit a rock). Then switched to a eight-inch Stihl "scratcher tooth" blade. Now it runs considerably much better and more quickly with a delightful singing sound. No issue with vines or trees up to two inches diameter. Two inch trees take little more time and a handful of whacks with the blade.

Product description led me to think that I could actually clear a field of little 1/2" to 1" saplings. I employed the makita 4-tooth brush-cutter blade which dulled in 1 hour of cutting. The pricey 24-tooth brush-cutter blade lasted two hours ahead of becoming useless. Finally, the lack of balace of the machine is truely back braking in comparison to a RedMax Reciprocating Trimmer/Edger which soon after years of use is slow but unstoppable. Makita EM4250ca brush-cutter is not worth half the asking price tag!old man
